More on Michael (Slxm sol)
Michael began making music at the age of twelve, influenced by a household immersed in soul and Motown records. As a teenager he was active on pirate radio, MCing and DJing while teaching himself digital production through DIY methods. His early practice was rooted in underground electronic culture, particularly acid and classic house, establishing both his independent ethos and long term commitment to electronic music.
He is now an active producer and DJ, releasing solo EPs through his independent label Soul Quest and performing regularly, including a residency at The Ned Hotel. In 2024 he curated and delivered “Sol Sessions”, a live showcase featuring collaborators and live PA performances. This marked a turning point in his practice, highlighting both audience appetite and the need to deepen the live dimension of his work.
Michael is currently undertaking a structured Research and Development process to transition into a live electronic performance model that blends electronic production with live instrumentation. Through mentorship, collaboration with musicians and technical experimentation, he is developing a new EP designed specifically for live presentation. Long term, he aims to establish a sustainable touring project that integrates live musicianship and electronic performance within a cohesive artistic identity.
